Just heard that there will be a 3 day enduro in Thailand in November, possibly round 1 of 2 rounds if another host can run the second event. I don't know where in Thailand the event is planned but everything is in early stages so stay tuned for further info. |

since the race in in the south of Thailand,i guess most of the riders would transport the bikes up by trailers/vans. a important point to take note - is that every vehicle car/van and even the bikes must be vouch for with a passport holder. that means if u have 2 bikes in a van,u would need 3 persons to be present at sadao checkpoint. same with a trailer,2 bikes and a car would need 3 persons/passports. if you are not the owner of any of the vehicles, than a letter of authorisation is needed from the owner/company. after getting the import paper work..don't forget that you have to surrender it when you are leaving Thailand. in order,to have a smooth crossing, plan yr journey up. the sadao checkpoint is not open 24hrs. if memory serves me rite, the hours are from 8.30 am till 9 pm.

a pick up or van would be a better choice as u can also use it as a chase/support vehicle during the rally to carry fuel/spares etc. also please make sure the yr vehicle is in top notch condition...chase vehicles drivers/pit crew have 2 do some wicked driving 2 get from 1 S.S to the other! oops.i forgot the lower toll charges 4 the pick up/van is another advantage compared to the trailer. Hi I'm a new comer Any one has a link for more information? You mentionned that this is a F.I.M event so it means it follows the standard regulation of a world enduro. What is the level of enduro riders in Thailand? Can it be compared to a national championship in a European country? Looking forward for more information about this and definetively interested. I participated to similar events like this in France, the Quadruple Aveyronnais (4 days) and the Trefle Lozeriens (3 days). This requires at least 1 assistance vehicle for 2 to 4 pilots. 2 to 4 riders start every minutes. It depends on the number of racers. The events I did had 500 racers so we were grouped by 4. 200 to 250km of trails per day, 5 to 8 time tests a day. It's similar to the famous ISDE but only 3 or 4 days. That's fantastic race but you need to be prepared to spend 6 to 7 hours on the bike during 3 days. Riding rythm is not very fast but when you go from check point to check point you must not stop and ride regularly at constant speed, regardless of the terrain. You can rest if you are early at the check point as you have a given time to check at each check point, not before, not after. This is very different from the races I've seen on video here (like Nusajaya or Sungai Tekkah), basically be prepared to ride the intermediate level during 6 to 7 hours a day with some stops... if you're regular enough. Add to this at least 5 cross test of few minutes were you are racing against the clock. If rainning that can become extremely challenging as in the regulation the time given for a check point is only increased by 5mns. And 5mns more when it rains, that's not a lot! Hopefully organizers may suppress some pass when they are too difficult. That's why it's important im such an event to ride at least by 3 or 4 in order to help each other when it gets tough! But of course when it comes to the time trial... it's war! Well friendly war of course. I hope that enduro as we know it in europe is going to develop here cos I think that there is a huge potential, specially when organizers are struggling with the ecologist in europe. Just needs to be adapted to the local climate condition. Olivier |

hi orouit, welcome to D.B.A yes,the running of the F.I.M enduro is similar to what you have mentioned. but the challenges in the different types of terrain and environment makes it difficult and the heat/humidity. the last F.I.M enduro in thailand when i was there(2006) as a support crew for Duck Of Death saw long transport stages and some long special stages test sections that comprise of both dirt and tarmac. the very last Maxxis F.I.M enduro in 2007 saw a bigger team from singapore driving up including this very fast french rider (Nicoli) buddy of duck of death - who is still around and is the terror of nusajaya enduro. let hope duck of death as some news in the coming days!

Thks for the info. I have heard about the BMW french rider and saw some pictures of the Nusajaya races. I should enter the next one as I'm getting my bike this week-end. However I haven't been riding for 6 years now because of a bad knee injury in ski racing. So I will be slowly catching up with my old level I'm getting a 250 EXC-F which is the most suitable bike for my level and size (I'm short!). Previously I was racing with 125 or 200 2Stroke, always KTM but I have had some other from 400LC4 to 300EXC (much too big for me!). My last one was the 200 EXC but this time I want to try a modern 4Str I have entered many stages of the french championship in National category and they follow the FIM regulation. The races you call enduro here are more like we call Endurance in France (3 hours individual, 5 or 6 hours for a team of 2). I also did many like this. We also have a typical mountain kind of race (I was living in the Alps in Frce), call Course de cote TT comparable to Pike Speak in the US. It's like an Enduro test of the WEC but it's on the hill. The arrival must be at a higher altitude than the start. That's a lot of fun! You mentioned that there are time trial that can use tarmac in the Thai enduro, during the Quadruple Aveyronnais there was a test like this, a hill climbing race on tarmac, a bit dangerous with off-road tire! SO I hope to see you soon, maybe in Nusajaya this Sunday.
