RND 4 - Nusajaya Enduro (Final Rnd for 2010) 28th Nov; X-Country
Topic Started: 6 Nov 2010, 09:10 (1,354 Views)

Hi Everyone!

Final round for the year. The format will be the same but the terrain will be very different.
This round the whole race will be held on what is known as stage 2. This area is across the road from the hanger.
This area is much more open and not so technical. As such this race will be faster and more flowing the challenge will not be just the terain but also your stamina. This will be a great race for all the MXers out there to see how they fair against our current crop of enduro talent.
This terrain is much more newbie friendly for those who want to try for the first time.

The pits will most likely be on the road verge just along from the hanger and at this stage tents will be provided but this is still to be confirmed.

Sign in at the track will open at 08:30 and finish at 09:30 and there will be no more entries after that time.
If you're late bad luck so make sure your alarm is set and you’re on time.
Entry fee for MSSC club members $50
Entry fee non MSSC club members $60
Entry fee Malaysian Residents $70rm

Program for the day

Sign on 08:30 - 09:30
Riders briefing 09:30
Novice race start 10:00
Expert race start 11:15
Intermediate race start 11:45
Prize giving 14:00

Format is the same as round 3.

Novice 1 hour
Intermediate 1 1/2 hour
Expert 2 hour

Due to the feed back from the recent race held by Pete we are considering a teams catagory.
This class will be two riders on two bikes or sharing 1 bike, racing for 2 hours.
The riders will take turns to complete laps and hand over to their partner at the end of each lap.
This class will start at the same time as the experts.
Entry fee remains the same as other classes ($50/rider)
Please advise in the forum if there is any interest in the teams class.

Race is open to all comers and all types of bikes. A scooter with nobby tires can also participate in the race! We do however want to make sure its safe and fun for everyone so make sure your bike is in reasonably good condition and you have a helmet, eye protection, and boots as a minimum.
Going to be another great race, see you then.

Will there be an expert route with some gnarly stuff?

There are some good short steep climbs and washouts etc that can be pretty challenging but weather to include them for experts I'm not sure yet. I am hoping to create more of a harescramble type race like we have in NZ and OZ where everyone races the same track the difference being how long the duration and how fast it is done between the different catagories.
Saw a lot of people groveling in the mud at the last race and thought for the last round I'd do something a bit less taxing and a bit more fun for everyone. However experts should always expect a few surprises as usual.

Hi Everyone,

Very successful day today designing the track for the race on the 28th.

We have found a 7.5km loop that I think everyone will find fun. We had a couple of new riders join us and they stuggled with a couple of the small drops so we will make small changes when we do the final marking to help make it very ridable.

The track is completely 100% different from the other 3 rounds and will be an interesting change for everyone I'm sure. It fun and flowing with a few places where you need to think as there are a lot of options in terms of line choice.

The pits will not be at the hanger and will instead be on the left hand side of the road about 1km futher down the road from the hanger. Don't go to the hanger on race morning keep driving and you'll see the pits as you go down the road. We'll be renting some tents so that there is shade at the pits.

The race schedule will be as follows:

08:00 - 09:00 Sign on (important that you're on time)
9:15 Riders Briefing
10:00 Expert and Team start
10:30 Intermediate Start
11:00 Novice start
12:00 Checkered flag for all classes.

We want to finish early for this race as it usually rains in the afternoon at this time of year.

Note again that we are going to have a team catagory for this race if there is enough interest.
This can be two riders sharing a bike or two riders on two bikes.
The riders can either take turns to complete a lap then hand over to their team mate or any other configuration they like.
The team race will be 2hrs. So if you share evenly you'll probably ride about an hour each.

Two weeks to go!

Looking forward to it!!

We rode the loop last Sunday, 3 expert riders and 3 intemediate and novice riders tagged along.

The loop in expert setting will take you 22 - 25 minutes in decent weather conditions

The loop in Intermediate - Novice setting will take you 30 - 40 minutes per loop depending on the weather

The Expert & Novice do have some gnarly stuff and as a result is not as free flowing or fast as what lazza had mentioned earlier aka NZ hare scramble, so its going to have some challenges but wont be bolistic fast.

There is a special treat for everyone at the end of the loop, possibly the best photo shoot opportunity so far, its special!

You're going to love this track on the 3 fidy!
It will be right at home out there. Just ask the dead duck who was there on his last sunday.

Yesterday seen the finish of the majority of marking and track layout, more than 10 bikes riding around figuring out the best lines.
The whole track is very freindly but has some mud that you will need to be committed if you are going to get through without using too much energy. If you are into photography or just want the best spectator view point then i strongly advise heading to one of the 2 hills located in the middle of the track, from there you will have a birds eye view of all the action taking place.

Ok! Track is now mostly marked out and looking awesome. There’s a lot of variety on this track and its going to be a blast. There were a few riders there checking it out yesterday and I saw a lot of grinning faces!
It’s not completely marked yet and there are no arrows up yet so if you’re going to check it out it might be a bit confusing. Anyhow the track runs clockwise. Don’t break down any of the tape please!
On race day we haven’t got too much tentage so if you have an umbrella or some other shade I suggest you bring it along with hats and sun block etc. We want to start and finish early and we will beat the heat of the day. Be on time or you might find that sign on has finished and you can’t race. Sign on is 08:00 until 09:00.
When you arrive you will be directed to the parking area please don’t just park anywhere or you might find your car becoming an obstacle on the course. Knobby tire marks on the windscreen will be hard to clean off.
A few tips to all racers.
This is not going to be a technical track as such compared to previous rounds however it will be rough and stamina will be tested for those who want to beat their friends. Drink lots of water on Friday and Saturday and get well hydrated, have a good breakfast on race day morning with lots of carbs and top up with an energy bar half an hour before your race starts. On race day don’t just drink water or you might get cramps, add some energy drinks in the morning to get the electrolyte levels up. These small things alone will make a big difference to how you handle and ultimately enjoy the day.
The track has some wet patches but they will only give you problems if you’re a sheep and follow those in front of you. Look outside of what’s in front of your nose and you will find a good easy line.
Stand up as much as you can its much less tiring and also harder to crash than when you’re sitting down. It lets you look much further ahead also.
There are some rocks so run your tires a bit tighter to avoid punctures by pinching the tube. 14-15 psi is a good compromise.
Looking forward to a good day it’s going to be fun!

Motocrossers!!
This round of Nusa has been designed in mind of the mx rider, the terrain and format will benefit the good motocrossers out there. Although no big jumps the circuit has many corners of varying types of dirt, a couple of real mx hills and balls out straights.

Yup, yesterday was probably the first time I could use the full powerband! And the 3fiddy loves the 'Throttle Cable Hill' and 'Top Gear' - can see overtaking coming up on the hills and of course the 'Soggy Acres' thumbup hehe

Final track marking this morning and everything is looking good!
Despite the rain the track is mostly dry.
We had 1 super newbie with us this morning helping with the marking and he made it round no worries.

Important! Remember do not go to the hanger. Go past the hanger about 1km and you will see the cars on the left hand side of the road that is where the pits and the race start will be.

Drink lots of water tonight, get a good sleep and we'll see you tomorrow and ready for action!!!

I haven't been this excited about a race for ages

Huge thanks to the lap scorers it’s a tough job especially with all the classes racing at once and some deaf people who did not hear at riders briefing that you are supposed to go slow past the lap scorers so that they can read your number.

What an awesome day!

Thanks to everyone who spent time setting up the track and the lap scorers who braved the elements!

Well done!!

My friend has uploaded a few pics here......

I was going well until I found the same deep rut that caused Pete's demise today......check out the photo of me filling-in the guy on the Husaberg :-).......check out the photo of him afterwards........great advert for tearoffs - the only clean part of him left is his goggle lense :-).

Richmond.
